These Straws Aren't for Drinking

I love a nice straw bag. I love how a straw bag is perfect for really any occasion - shopping, dining, work, beach-going... The sight of a straw bag always puts me in a summer state of mind. When I see someone carrying a straw bag I think, "Maybe that person is just going to work for the day, but, then again, maybe she is going to board a Hampton Jitney this afternoon and that straw bag contains her clothes and sunblock for the summer weekend."

Straw totes, straw beach bags, straw clutches... you name it! The straw bag comes in all shapes and sizes. There are tons of straw bags with exotic details or beautiful hardware. So, with June only a few days away, I present to you some straw bags of the summer season!

First up are some big and beautiful bags that are perfect for the beach, the park - for that special place that requires beach towels, sunblock (and, in my case, some delicious sandwiches and cookies!). These bags range from simple to playful, from natural to metallic, from one-toned to multi-colored! One of these fabulous bags (top left natural bag with metallic floral accents) was actually found on a bridal website and advertised as a great gift for bridesmaids! (I'd be one happy bridesmaid!!) The J.Crew bag, with the single large flower and the red striped Kate Spade bag are perfect for a park outing. The AMAZING Billabong multi-colored bag and Spiegel metallic bag are perfect for some beach fun! And the bold and daring Chico's floral bag - that baby TOTALLY speaks for itself - it's awesome!

These light and summery clutches make a VERY rich statement. The black circle designs on the Cole Haan clutch look like 1950s records reinvented in a fashion forward way. The black Felix Rey clutch with the shells and the black 7 For All Mankind clutch are so city chic and would go perfectly with a little black dress or suit. The neon yellow accent on the Miss Sixty clutch is so hot - I would absolutely wear this one with jeans, a loose tank, and sky high stilletos. The Sondra Roberts pink buckle makes her clutch perfect for a floral dress or picnic checkered look. And the Ann Taylor Loft striped clutch is perfect for anything - a night out, a day running errands - it will look good with everything!
And let's discuss the straw tote. One paticularly exciting thing, when it comes to this category of straw totes, is the fact that we have Felix Rey's beautiful luxury creation (see the grey tote) and we also have Felix Rey's create for Target (the beautiful tote with a shell detail). And you know me, I just love when expensive designers put out things for less! The Arden B. blue ribbon stunner is just SO pretty. I'm thinking white crisp shirt, blue jeans and ballet flats. The Bamboo 54 tote is just that classic straw bag that you can use for absolutely any occasion. And the Chaps bag with brown detail (available at Kohl's!) is so preppy and cute - perfect for work or the yacht!

I tried to present straw bags for that gal (like myself) shopping on a budget. Yes, there is the occasional bag that is in the hundreds, however, no bag goes into the two hundred dollar range. The way I see it, most of these bags are a decent price and, if you're looking to splurge a little on one summer bag this year, there are several beautiful - more expensive - straw bag options above, from which you can choose!

Splish splash!

Wearing a bathing suit can be quite an overwhelming experience. After waxing and moisturizing and all that fun stuff, I STILL feel so self-conscious! But this summer season, the suits out there are so adorable - neon colors, tie-dye prints, gorgeous one-pieces - that who's really gonna look at more than the suit anyway? (or at least I keep telling myself that!) There are the classic suits (oh J.Crew, you rock my world), the fun-filled surf-brand suits (like Billabong and Hurley), and the designer suits (like le doux and Lenny). So, after a friend requested that I write about bathing suits, I decided that these are my favorites that should be displayed:

Le art-y look

Milly ikat design
Hurley pretty top
Hurley pretty bottom

Simply stated (and sexy!)

le doux lovely!
Lenny - me likey!

Cheapies! (And by cheap, I mean less than 20 bucks... for the whole thing!)

J.Crew bottom together with J.Crew top
Victoria's Secret sophisticated!

These tie-dye suits won't run... in the ocean!

Work Your Body - Any Body

I wanted to write an entry (after a friend's encouragement) about clothing that is great for curvy women. I really hope my ideas are useful! I'm aiming for the summer season look, but of course, you can always layer something fabulous over these outfits. Enjoy!

Sophie Dahl is definitely my inspiration for the following proposed outfit for women with (or without curves):

I love the look Toccara (from America's Next Top Model) is working here:

Toccara

She is inspiration for the following:
Gold-plated bangle power!
These earrings are SICK!
Seychelles glowing wedge

I'm also really into bright bright bright colors this summer, as well as tie-dye-looking things. This dress has a definite tie-dye, ombre look and I am in love with it!
